All right, it’s time to fish or cut bait.
I don’t know who Henry Olsen is, other than that he writes a column that appears in the Washington Post and appears to be a little to the right of center. But he predicted the election in his column today and he picked who would win every state.
So I sat down and made my own predictions and then compared them to his just for the heck of it.
We agreed on every state, including the rogue Congressional districts in Maine and Nebraska.
Without further ado:
Biden 350, Trump 188.
Biden carries every state Hillary Clinton carried in 2016.
Biden wins back the “blue wall” states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
That assures him of victory, but he goes on to add to his margin by carrying Arizona, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.
He adds one electoral vote in Nebraska, but gives it back in Maine.
He wins the popular vote by 53-46.
It wouldn’t shock me if he got to 388 by carrying Texas, but as a prediction I think that’s a bridge too far. I think Democrats will take back the Senate with 51 or 52 seats, but sadly, I think Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham will survive. Democrats should gain 8-10 seats in the House.
One thing fascinating to me about this outcome would be that except for South Carolina and Alaska, Biden carries every state bordering on the two oceans. In fact, Biden would carry 28 states and the District of Columbia to Trump’s 22 states.
To be fair, this prediction is about 75 percent think it will and 25 percent hope it will.
Sorry this is a fairly short post, but I did what I needed to do and got on the record. Now we need to see what happens.
