OUR HOUSE IS A VERY VERY VERY FINE HOUSE

“… with no cats in the yard …”

It has been a very strange year as I look back at the halfway point.

Except for spending a week in April in Virginia to see family, we haven’t gone anywhere that wasn’t necessary. Nicole and I were both fully vaccinated by late March, but for the most part it hasn’t changed the way we do things.

We’re both past 70 and we each have underlying health conditions, so playing it safe makes a lot of sense.

Nicole has devoted a great deal of time this year to another of her periodic remodels. We live in a beautiful home that we owe no money on, but she enjoys changing things every few years.

We decided to add bookcases this year, and especially with these two in our sun room, we have very few boxes of books in the garage anymore.

It’s nice to have a nice house, although we’re a little overstocked in some respects. Three TVs for two people, four Amazon Echo Shows, two computers plus tablets and more odds and ends than you can imagine.

We both love this house as we come up on 11 years living here. Our health problems — and of course the pandemic — have kept us at home. Even the plans to go out have been a little sporadic. I recently bought tickets for three concerts — Mary Chapin Carpenter, Frankie Val;li and Elton John — but those tickets are in five months, eight months and 14 months from now.

Oh, well.

If we’re not going anywhere much, at least we love where we are.
