MILLION MORON MARCH DIDN”T HAPPEN THIS TIME

So much for Million Moron March II.

Saturday’s “Justice for J6” rally at the U.S. Capitol demanding freedom for the “political prisoners” from the pro-Trump attack on the Capitol this past January was never expected to be as big a deal as the original.

For one thing, law enforcement was prepared this time.

So was the media.

Estimates of the crowd suggested there were fewer Trumpanzees present than there were reporters or police officers.

Heck even MAGA-merica’s Cutest Couple — Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene — weren’t present. Neither were any members of the Trump family or their entourage.

Proud Boys?

Not this time.

Qanon believers?

I don’t believe so.

At least one estimate suggested that the number of people present had the same number of digits as the protesters’ average IQ.

That’s a small small crowd.

One thing that amazes me in all this is that I still have friends who see Trump the way I once did, as a sort of clown prince of the rich who was and is essentially harmless. In fact, to a few of them, Trump saved America from the real villain of the 21st century — Hillary Clinton.

I suppose you could call that a good example of misogyny, but it seems like so much more than that. One person I know actually called Clinton the “embodiment of evil,” This about someone who never had any real power other than one vote of 100 in the U.S. Senate.

Those who love Clinton — and I don’t count myself among them — certainly never tried to overturn the results of an election by attacking the U.S. Capitol as the Trumpanzees did eight months ago. And unless you think it was all big fun to be yelling “Hang Mike Pence” as they searched for Trump’s hapless second banana, it was plenty scary even for Republicans.

One problem is that people have become far too willing to accept horrible behavior from people on their own side. Sure, they attacked the Capitol for Trump, but hey, don’t forget those three Supreme Court justices.

Saturday’s rally might have been a fizzle, but don’t kid yourself.

This isn’t over.

And in the end, it will not end well.
