Donald Trump keeps edging us closer and closer to the abyss.
The only question anymore will be who goes over the edge — America or Trump himself.
At a rally in Conroe, Texas, Saturday, Trump said the January 6th insurrectionists had been treated unfairly, and said if he was re-elected in 2024, he would pardon all of them.
“If I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6th fairly. And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons because they are being treated so unfairly.”
Let’s be realistic about one thing. Barring some massive change, Trump will not win either the popular electoral vote if it is a legal, legitimate election. As he gets scarier and scarier, his chances of actually being elected are getting slimmer and slimmer.
That’s why these election laws Republicans are trying to pass in state after state are so horrific. In Arizona, one such law would allow the legislature to reverse the results of an election.
Does anyone really believe that if that happened, there would ever be another election?
On January 6th, according to Trump,
“It was a lot of love there. Believe me, there was a lot of love and a lot of friendship and people that love our country.”
If Trump were a liberal Democrat, one of the Second Amendment crowd would shoot him. No question, and people don’t shoot right wingers in this country unless they want to impress Jodie Foster.
Is there anything that Trump could do or say that would make his base desert him? Other than molesting a small child, I can’t think of anything, and I’m not even sure that would do it.
Would so-called blue states accept an obviously stolen election that resulted in another Trump presidency?
What do you think?
