Is there anything we could learn about Donald Trump anymore that could shock the people who have chosen him as their hero?
Apparently destroying documents illegally by tearing them up like a child having a tantrum isn’t anything his base cares about.
If they did care, if it was something that upset them, Trump would simply lie and say it was fake news and that nothing of the sort had happened.
Imagine future researchers going to the National Archives to study files of presidential papers. Alone among past administrations, papers from 2017-2021 will be torn, taped, crumpled and generally looking horrible. If there is one thing that has become glaringly obvious about Trump, it’s that he has never believed he has to follow the same rules as ordinary people.
He’s special.
Just ask him.
It ought to be very apparent to anyone who has been paying attention that Trump doesn’t see himself as having to obey the same rules as ordinary people.
There are really only two possibilities.
He’s either stupid … or evil.
While there is always the possibility he is both, it’s hardly necessary. Someone who is stupid shouldn’t be president, and it should go without saying that the office shouldn’t be held by someone evil.
For years before “The Apprentice” made Trump’s image into something he wasn’t — respectable — he played an important role among rich people.
You see, most of the fabulously wealthy do whatever they can to avoid publicity. They pay people to keep their names out of the media, while ordinary people pay to be noticed.
In fact, there were pretty much three rich guys who carried water for all the others, each of them in specific roles. This was in the days before Bezos, Musk and the others, so it was Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Donald Trump in the news.
Gates was the achiever.
Buffett was the guy who didn’t live rich.
Trump was the clown prince.
He was the guy who made a big deal about being good in bed, about being good looking and popular.
But he never admitted his real role in life — he was and is a clown.
