Many of the folks who have been fighting to overturn Roe v Wade for years have other things on their agenda.
Same-sex marriage. Interracial marriage. Transgender rights.
Extramarital sex.
Contraception.
Just ask them. Some of these people will openly admit that no one should be having sex unless they want to have a baby, and those babies should be in families consisting of a man and a woman of the same race who are legally married to each other.
It amazes me how, even on their most core belief, there is an amazing level of hypocrisy.
I do have friends who call themselves pro-life who really do seem to care what happens to the baby once it is born, but there are far too many people on that side of the issue who basically believe their responsibility ends once the baby draws its first breath.
To too many of them, what it’s about is sin and punishing sinners. They aren’t about to help the sinner raise her children, especially if she’s a single mother or a lesbian.
This might be all right with a different species. Infants in most animal species are able to survive on their own — and often even thrive — at a very early stage in their lives. But send a 2-year-old human off on his or her own and that human will be measuring its lifespan in days instead of years.
Of course these people have more issues than just abortion.
And we’re going to see the Court tackling all of them as soon as they can get away with it.
