I can’t imagine ever voting for Liz Cheney in any race where she was running against a Democrat.
She’s a hardline conservative who voted with Donald Trump 93 percent of the time during his four years as president, and I’ve certainly never been a fan of her father.
That said, I don’t think Republicans in Wyoming did themselves any favors by voting her out in the Republican primary Tuesday.
I don’t know much about the woman who defeated her, Harriett Hageman, other than that Trump endorsed her and she believes Democrats stole the 2020 presidential election.
So she’ll fit right in to the Kooky Kaukus with Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz and all the other cartoon characters in the next Congress.
It’s not like she’s going away.
Cheney has an estimated $13 million campaign war chest and she says all her energies will be devoted to making sure Trump never occupies the Oval Office again. It could be quite interesting to see someone running for president without trying to get people to vote for them at all.
Actually, I don’t think Trump will be part of the 2024 campaign at all. Between age-related health problems and all the potential legal problems he faces, I would be shocked if he’s a real factor. I think he will continue saying he’s going to run so that he can grift millions more from his minions.
In fact, I think by the time the primary season starts in about a year and a half, he’ll be living in a country that won’t extradite him to the United States.
Can you say Russia?
So when it comes to Cheney vs. Trump, Liz might just get the last laugh.
