‘ZEES making sure no one gets to see the drag show

I wish I could understand why people are so upset about the patriotic, God-fearing men we know as Trumpanzees who cased a power outage in Moore County, N.C., by shooting up two power substations and knocking out electricity to an entire area.

Apparently all they were trying to do was prevent little children from being required to attend a drag show in the city of Southern Pines.

Southern Pines, NC

I don’t want to be overly snarky about Moore County. I actually have an old friend who lives there, and while I would be relatively certain she is no fan of drag shows, she is still a good person.

It’s a semi-rural county in the eastern part of the state that hasn’t had all that many famous people from there. Three of the six listed in Wikipedia are professional wrestlers, although 2004 Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards grew up there.

Probably the most famous thing about the county — at least pre-drag show power outage — is Pinecrest Golf Resort and some of the outlying parts of Fort Bragg. Pinecrest and Southern Pines are in the southeastern part of the county. One might expect that an area somewhat dependent on tourism might be a little more open to the LGBTQ+ community.

Of course what I said at the beginning was an exaggeration. Even before the power outage, no one was forcing little children to attend the drag show.

Besides, drag shows aren’t usually what these people fear they are. A show called Downtown Divas is going to be mostly about music. It’s going to be men made up and dressed up to look like Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Cher and other great female divas and singing their songs.

It might come as something of a shock to the haters, but drag queens aren’t always gay. It really is just about performing, about entertainment.

It really is fairly obvious that 45,000 people lost power at least for a few hours because some Trumpanzee types were offended by the idea of drag shows. Emily Rainey, former Army psyops officer, posted on her Facebook page that she knew why the power was out, and later said “God will not be mocked.”

The truly sad part of this is that the bluenoses have far outstripped their responsibilities. I would be quite shocked if even one person attending the drag show had been forced into attending. But the haters are offended that anyone should be allowed to see a show like that.

What the heck happened to live and let live?
