If you read that text message sent by a media figure and start whining about those damn liberals, guess what?
The author wasn’t Rachel Maddow or anyone else on liberal MSNBC. It wasn’t anyone on CNN or on any of the Internet sites.
Nope, it was right-wing hero and insurrection apologist Tucker Carlson, Fox’s highest rated host. The same Tucker Carlson who got all the footage of the January 6th attack from Squeaker, er, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.
If you’re unfortunate enough to be in a house where someone makes you watch Carlson, you’ve doubtless heard his take on the insurrection, which is essentially that it wasn’t an insurrection at all.
They were just sightseers.
Sightseers who attacked and caused serious injury to 140 capitol police officers.
Sightseers who wanted to hang Mike Pence.
Sightseers who even frightened folks on their side of the issue, like Senator Josh Hawley.
Yep, just patriotic Americans who wanted to see the U.S. Capitol building.
And if you believe that, good old Tucker thinks you’re a fucking idiot.
Donald Trump does too, but he at least pretends to love you.
Just like good old Tucker pretends to love Trump. Of course, that might be coming to an end. In Dominion’s lawsuit against Fox News, all sorts of evidence is coming out showing that Fox’s big guns knew Trump had lost and the election had not been stolen. That meant they were going on the air every night and blatantly lying — for one reason only.
The lies were better for ratings.
It’s time to amend the First Amendment.
Lies should not be protected speech.
Within a year, Fox News would be history.
