TRUMP IS THE KEYSER SOZE OF HIS GENERATION

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that… he is gone.

You may recognize the above quote as the last line from “The Usual Suspects,” an outstanding crime movie with a twist ending. Don’t worry, I’m not going to give anything away, so no spoiler alerts are necessary.

To me the quote is just a jumping-off point to say an even greater trick than that has been Donald Trump convincing common people not only that he’s their champion, but that he even cares whether they live or die.

A few years back, my son Virgile told me I was too quick to call Republicans evil, and when I gave it some thought, I decided he was probably wrong.

Oops, I mean probably right.

As much as I may dislike George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and others for policies I think benefit no one except the very wealthy, they don’t rise to the level of evil.

Child molester evil.

Hitler evil.

Satan evil.

So I dialed it back.

Then Trump and his minions came along. Trump, who has never done anything ethical in his life except maybe by mistake. Trump, who has been sued more than 3,000 times for refusal to pay his bills. Trump, whose lewd remarks about his daughter are reminiscent of the old joke.

Vice is nice, but incest is best.

The silly thing about it all is that Trump is such a joke that he gives so many clues to how he really feels about the people who have completely abandoned reality to support him.

Take this one, for instance.

“I love the poorly educated.”

I’m sure there are some people who would qualify fror that group who hear it and say no one cares about them but their beloved President Trump.

Of course, people who aren’t poorly educated understand exactly what he means. Trump loves the poorly educated because they buy what he’s selling. A few weeks ago I posted a video of a Trump follower who said there was absolutely nothing Trump could do that would makes him stop following him. He said Trump could murder someone right in front of him and he would still votefor him.

Poorly educated indeed.

Much of the support from lower income, lower intelligence voters can be summed up in eight words.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

These people hate liberals so much that anyone who drives the libs up a wall is their best friend.

With the possible exception of Mitt Romney, who might be the most clueless American politician in this century, there is no one who is less a man of people than Trump. In fact, one of Trump’s followers said the reason he prefers Trump to President Joe Biden is that Biden grew up rich and doesn’t understand working people.

This is why I could never run for office. If I were campaigning and meeting voters, and if one of them said that to me, there are only four words I could say.

“You’re a moron, sir.”
