SO NOW EVEN THE FEDERALISTS ARE DUMPING TRUMP

Be very careful what you wish for.

It’s difficult to imagine a credible Republican candidate next year who isn’t named Donald Trump, so seeing the far-right Federalist Society argue that Trump is disqualified from being elected president again under the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment is at worst confusing.

It’s an interesting amendment, designed to keep former Confederates from getting back into the government and reworking old grievances. Interesting in that it only bars people who have taken an oath previously and then violating it from returning. If Trump had never been president but just provoked the 1/6/21 attacks, he would still be eligible to win.

1/6/21

What’s strange about it is that the Federalist Society is the far-right group that gave Trump the names of the people he appointed to the Supreme Court. It’s about as conservative a non-religious group as there is, so seeing them coming out against the Duce of the Far Right is more than a little surprising.

Maybe they know something.

What could they know? My hunch is they realize there is no way Trump can win a legitimate election next year and Republicans need to have the time and the opportunity to find someone else.

It certainly doesn’t look like it will be Ron DeSantis, who loses ground every time he opens his mouth. It’s difficult to imagine someone being less likable than Trump, but that’s Our Ronnie.

Then there are to go-go boots, which are becoming the modern eqivalent of Dukakis in the tank.

So who then? It’s not going to be either of the South Carolinians, either a woman or an African-American “confirmed bachelor” who brags about being a virgin.

Which brings us to …

It won’t be Mike Pence or Chris Christie. The Trumpanzees hate both of them too much, and that takes us down to the longshots, and there are at least six or eight more who have already declared.

Pretty sure, there will never be a president outside of the Bible named Asa.

As for last name Ramaswamy …

Yeah, sure.
