Christian Nationalists are just another Taliban

I’m beginning to think that so-called Christian Nationalists are their own worst enemies.

Texas Pastor Joel Webbon was heard to pray last month that American would never be ruled by female leadership. More recently, Webbon said Christians should demand that the United States should repeal the 19th Amendment.

“The reason why I have grown to despise democracy is because … everyone is allowed to vote,” Webbon said. “And just for the record, yeah, I think the 19th Amendment should be repealed. I think that because, first and foremost, I’m a Christian and that is the Christian position.”

The 19th Amendment?

Which one is that?

Oh, that’s the one that gave women the right to vote.

It truly amazes me that so many of these people claim this must be a Christian nation when most of the Founding Fathers insisted that it isn’t. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am fairly certain there are two words that never appear in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the Bill of Rights.

Jesus Christ.

It’s important to remember that so-called Christian Nationalists or even evangelicals are a relatively small minority — about one-fourth — among American Christians. It may come as a surprise to some people, but many devout Christians don’t believe Christianity is the only way to salvation.

Christ himself said “In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2) And while there are different ways to interpret that verse, at least one way is that there are mansiojns for people other than Christians.

But there is no denying that Christ said he woulld rule in heaven and not on earth.

If Christian Nationalists ever rule America, there is one thing this country will no longer be.

America.
