American Pope about more than just U.S.

An American Pope.

Hey, that’s great.

One who annoys the MAGts and Trumpanzees.

Even better.

I wasn’t born into a Roman Catholic family, but I converted in the early 1990s when I married my second wife. I have been happy to be Catholic for more than 30 years. but as an American Catholic, one thing I never expected to see was a Pope from the United States. So imagine my joy when I learned yesterday that Robert Francis Prevost had seen elected by the College of Cardinals as only the second Pope from the Western Hemisphere.

It had to annoy the Trumpanzees that Prevost, who will take the name Leo XIV, is from Chicago, a city Donald Trump himself hates as the home of Barack Obama. In fact, Trump advisor/girlfriend Laura Loomer, attacked the new Holy Father on social media.

The Pope angered the MAGAts a few weeks ago when he criticized America’s VP Hillbilli Vanilli, for coming up with a list of how much people should love others, a list that started with your family and ended with people from other countries.

JD Vance just seems more and more vile, a scary thought for someone who is odds on to be president sometime in the next 44 months as Trump ages worse and worse all the time.

One good thing is that Pope Leo is fairly young as pontiffs go, nearly a decade younger than Trump. He will be a balancing voice for good against Trump and his crown.

A lot of people will be unhappy that he doesn’t support women in the clergy or marital rights for gays and lesbians, and this may sound cold, but there are plenty of different religions and denominations. If you believe Catholicism is the only way to salvation, then follow the teachings of the church. If other things matter more, find a church that gives you what you need.

The ‘zees and MAGAts may not see it this way, but there are plenty of Americans in the Western Hemisphere who aren’t part of the USA.

Cardinal Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, spent 20 years in Peru and is beloved among Catholics down there.

So yes, an American Pope.

Ole, ole.
