‘NORMAL TOURIST DAY’ FAR FROM THE TRUTH

“Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes taking videos and pictures. You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit.”

Damn. Why did he have to be from Georgia?

Andrew Clyde had been a member of Congress for three days on January 6th, so I’m not sure how he knows what would or wouldn’t be a normal tourist visit. He represents the district just to the east of the one served by Marjorie Taylor Greene. Between the two of them, they cover the entire Georgia-Tennessee border.

Clyde represents what could be called the “Deliverance” district, the mountainous upstate part of the state where the famous 1970s movie was filmed. Presumably he was never told he had a “purty mouth.”

So our state, which has already suffered famous idiots like Lester Maddox, Newt Gingrich and the aforementioned Greene now has another political rock star.

That’s rock as in “dumb as a …”

Clyde was born in Canada and grew up in Indiana and New York before coming south. In case you’re wondering what he does for a living, it can’t possibly surprise you to learn he’s a gun dealer.

A normal tourist day

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he can’t possibly be stupid enough to think it really was a normal tourist day, which makes him one of the Trumpanzees trying to downplay the significance of the attacks.

After all, there are photos that show him trying to help barricade the door to keep the attackers out of the House of Representatives. But it’s important to remember Clyde hasn’t even been in Congress for five months, and even though he’s in a safe district for Republicans, if he doesn’t toe the Trump line, it’ll be back to the gun store for him.

We’ll watch him and look for signs of intelligence.

I’m not sure which is good — intelligent but far right or dumb and goofy.
