It’s amazing to me at my age to learn that wonderful feelings of happiness can come almost out of nowhere.
I signed onto Facebook this morning and soon realized someone had posted a message on my page. The sender was one of my first cousins — I have four who grew up in Ohio — and the message was a very nice surprise.
My youngest cousin, Ruth Ford, sent me a message that she had recently finished reading my novel “A Whiter Shade of Pale.”
“I really enjoyed it!”
If your reaction to that is “Oh well” or “What’s the big deal,” I guarantee you have never had a book published.
I don’t know how many copies have been sold on Amazon, but I have a funny feeling I have purchased more than half of them, as well as one copy of the Kindle edition to read on my smartphone.
I have given away a number of copies to friends and relatives, and one nice surprise about my cousin buying it on her own is that I was getting to offer her a copy of it if she wanted.
I’ve sent gift copies as far west as California, as far east as Scotland and as far north as Boston. I don’t recall sending anyone a copy who lives to the south of me, although I have several friends living south of me that I would gladly mail one to on request.
All I would ask of anyone getting a free copy from me is that after you read it, especially if you like it, write a short review on Amazon.
Oh, and perhaps recommend it to your friends.
As for my cousin, she’s at the top of the good list.
