“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
It’s time to try something new in the Middle East.
Arabs have been waging war on Israel since that country declared its independence in May 1948, and the recent terror attacks by Hamas prove that no real progress is being made toward a peaceful solution.
Western nations have been pushing a two-state solution that would leave the Jewish Israelis and the Muslim Palestinians living side by side, but the slogan at the beginning of this piece shows that what the Palestinians really want is a one-state solution that would leave the Israelis on the outside looking in.
It ought to be obvious that won’t happen.
After all, Israel has something none of the Arab nations have.
Nuclear weapons.
It’s difficult to imagine the Israelis using those weapons for anything but an existential threat, nd the fact is there aren’t really any good Palestinian targets that would do much without also threatening Israel. But if Hamas continues to escalate its attacks to the point where it gets really awful for Israel, it wouldn’t be all that shocking to see the Israelis take it out on Iran.
After more than 75 years, and with the money from rich Muslim radicals backing them, what possible solution could there be that would end the war?
Well, there is one, and the best part of it is that neither side will be happy with it.
Take whatever land now consists of Israel and the surrounding lands occupied by Palestinians and deoccupy it.
Mike, is deoccupy a word?
Let’s say it ought to be. Everyone who lives in either place will be paid for their property and then relocated, the Palestinians to Saudi Arabia, Jordan or Syria and the Israelis to Florida, New York or Southern California.
The only people who will be allowed to live there will be the ones who work at a giant tourist attraction that will be created for Jews, Muslims and yes, even Christians to visit and sightsee. We can call it Three Flags Over Palestine and let the Disney people operate it.
But it’s the Holy Land. What you suggest would be sacrilegious. God would punish us.
I doubt it. If God doesn’t punish us for all the things we do to each other in His name, or for letting poor children starve, I don’t think vacating a place where things happened thousands of years ago would move the needle at all.
Believing in God and following His teachings has nothing to do with visiting religious places.
Better to clear it out and give both Israeli and Palestinian children a chance to grow up.
You know what might be the biggest obstacle to getting this done.?
Right-wing Americans who won’t want to let several million Jews into this country,
Better we just outlaw organized religion.
