I came across a statistic the other day that didn’t ring true.
Someone said that 74 million Americans love Donald Trump, based of course on the rough number of votes he got in the 2020 election.
It’s a meaningless number for several reasons, but if we were to assume it’s real, there are 330 million people in this country. That would mean 22 percent of Americans love him, but of course, many voters on both sides vote for a candidate from their own party regardless of who he or she is.
In fact, when Trump voters are polled, many of them say they like him because he drives the libs crazy.
And yes, there are certainly voters on the other side who will vote for President Biden only because of the D after his name. That isn’t the only reason I will vote for Biden, but I can’t imagine any circumstance under which I would vote for a Republican for president. I’m not thrilled with Biden as president, but only because I’m 74 years old and I think presidents should not be older than me.
That said, I do think Biden has been a good president. I don’t think 81 million Americans love him, but when you look at all the insane baggage that goes along with Repubicans, I think enough of us will “love” Biden to save our country from the Trumpanzees.
