When I heard that the man — and I use the term loosely — currently running our country (into the ground) was threatening to obliterate Iranian civilization, I was reminded of a very good movie I saw about 25 years ago.
Director Rod Lurie’s debut film “Deterrence” stars Kevin Pollak as a vice president who became president and is running for a term of his own. His campaign is struggling and he is stuck in a roadside diner in a Colorado diner.
I suppose I should say spoiler alert, although the movie was seen by almost no one. Pollak is literally stranded, and he learns that Iraq has once again invaded Kuwait and has slaughtered hundreds of American soldiers. He informs the Iraqis that if they don’t withdraw immediately, he will use a nuclear weapon to dwstroy Baghdad.

They refuse.
He nukes Baghdad, destroying a city that was founded in 762 AD and was one of the great cities of the world when Americans were still crapping in caves. Since Pollak’s character is basically a good if weak man, he decides to end his campaign and resign his office.
Can you even imagine our boy Donald doing something good that comes with a personal cost for him?

Iran is one of the oldest civilizations on Earth. If you’re impressed by the longevity of Baghdad, consider that Iran had been around for 14 centuries before the Iraqi city was even founded. That far back, Americans couldn’t even find the caves their descendants would crap in.
It ought to go without saying that if civilizations die, it should not be at the hands of other civilizations. Threatening to kill another civilization, no matter how many “God blesses” you throw around, is one very simple thing.
Genocide.
By now there should be no doubt that Donald has something seriously wrong with him. Be it dementia, psychopathy, sociopathy or just stupidity, this man shouldn’t be running a Taco Bell franchise, let alone a great country.

Worst of all, he keeps blathering on about how great he is. You just know that once he stops attacking Iran, he’s going to claim he ended the war and deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
Things are getting desperate.
Donald really is killing our country.
It may take desperate measures to remove him from office, but as the late Phil Ochs once said in a song about Vietnam:
“Find a flag so you can wave goodbye, but just before the end even treason may be worth a try. This country is too young to die.”
